Probably my favourite Run Wales event, even surpassing Snowdonia.
Prior to turning up to the event I hadn't actually checked the route, I'd signed up to get some marathon training miles in and this just fell on the right weekend.
It wasn't until I started the event and I heard runners talking about the hill. 7 miles later and we started to climb Conwy mountain! That will teach me..
The route though was great and the views from the top were beathtaking. Going up the mountain it's nearly all a road route, but as you reach the top it's all trail coming down. You do have to be careful as it would be easy to twist an ankle. It was well worth it though.
Apart from the route, the local support was ok, difficult to have loads of support up a mountain! The goody bag was minimal with a medal and a t-shirt. No food given out which was a little disappointing.
The entry fee is probably the support end of half marathon costs but that is across the board for Run Wales events.
Parking was fairly easy and it was about half a mile to the hq. No problems at all there.
The race starts on the beach and end there too, tough on the legs. I took my other half and we brought along two dogs. They loved playing on the beach whilst I ran.
Would I do this event again? Hell yeah, those views are to die for!
