A local event to me and a great one too. I done this race for the first time 2yrs ago and really enjoyed it. The swim is not the best though as it's very weedy in places and can really slow you down if you get caught up in it (mainly towards the right hand side of the lake). The bike is a rolling course with some fast straights and downhills, plus a few inclines too to keep you on your toes! Onto the run and 4 x 5km laps, this is a pretty tough run as you head out of the park and through the village to a farmers field and up the hill along the track. The terrain is a mix of road and off-road, with a few sections on grass.
Nutrition is a mix of water and High5 with energy gels on the run, don't think there was any gels/food on the bike but I wasn't particularly looking though.
Great event village at the finish with lots of food and drink vendors, massage and some clothing stalls. Lots to do for kids as well in the park with various different play areas around. Nice medal and a cycle top as a memento this year, however I would have preferred a hoodie again.
My only negative comment would be the delay to the start caused by swimmers taking a long time to enter the water following the swim briefing, but I'd definitely do the event, or one of the shorter ones again for sure.
