Am a local, and completed all of Always Aim High triathlons, this one is by far my favourite, but definitely the most challenging.

The location is just outstanding, there is rarely a moment when you're not swimming/cycling or running amongst the best views the UK could offer, and to race amongst it is truly unique.

Registration takes place hte day before, seemless.  Pre-race info online is up-to-date and decent.

Race day, good marshalling throughout, clear signposts everywhere.

Swim; one of hte best spots I've swam, warm, a bit shallow towards start/finish but depsite this years epic winds it was still fantastic, easy there/back course, short gravelly run to transition, but no issues barefoot.

Bike; hard in places, but generally quality roads, open and wide, not too busy given time of day with cars not really an issue.  Beautiful climbs and descents, Pen-y-Pass is a descent I've done dozens of times and still doesn't disappoint.

Run; in a word...brutal.  Hard 12km there-and-back along uneven trail, undulating with gentle rise before taking on Siabod, which by time most legend competitors get to it is full of the shorter distance competitors descending making it a little tricky in parts.  It's steep, ascending 700-800m in the course of 3-4km, loose underfoot, but the views make up for it. Finish line is really well supported iwth great atmosphere, Plas-y-BRenin centre that hosts the transition area/base is a great place to hang out for a few hours eating/drinking.
