Right, here we go! This was my second year of completing the event so knew exactly what to expect. Last year was hot, this year was wet and windy! It didn’t take away from another amazing event!
The swim was two laps this year and due to the wind a little choppy. Water was warm but not as clear as last year mainly due to the wind churning it it.
There is a carpeted run most of the way to T1 then out in that bike course. First 10k is mostly uphill over Pen Y Pass and had a head wind! Wind all the way to Llanberis. Once out the wind, I picked up speed and could enjoy the amazing scenery. Over Crimea pass and back towards T2 with more headwind. It rained here making the descent scary!
T2 done and off to the run. First 6.5k into wind and rain and not to bad after the first turn. The run up Moel Siabod was hard! It got colder once out the woods so a jacket was worn and summited in the clouds!
A steady run down followed by a 8 min PB.
A very well organised race with amazing scenery and a unique course. Lots of people will never climb a mountain, let alone race up and down one!
If you want to read a more detailed review of my journey there, my blog is attached.
Thanks so much for your kind words! We're really happy you enjoyed the day and hopefully we'll see you again for round 3 next year!
