← Castle Howard - Run Series

Castle Howard is a beautiful country house in outstanding grounds. If yuou like trail running and dont mind hills then this is a must run race!

Car parking is easy BUT if its wet the field will get boggy. On arrival you walk to registration which is easy enough. The registratioon process is easy and the 'race village' very friendly. Being someone who sufferesd from pre race anxiety I have to say the toilet facilities, given the current numbers who run this race, was okay BUT if it gets more popular, which it will, they will have toi re think.

The course is reasonably hilly with an elevation of 440ft but honestly, its not too bad. If I were to run again I would pick trail shoes. Yes, you can run in road shoes but the terrain is bumpy.

I managed to get stung after the first mile and if you get in trouble all you can do is walk to a feed station as there is no en route support/spectators.

The course itself is BEAUTIFUL and really interesting with no monotenous long stretches. Is it a PB course.... no.

The bling is small. and no goody bag and bag drop is okay.

The race caters beautfully foe a familly day out with plenty of FREE stuff for the kids including rock climbing and archery... yes, FREE.

Would I run it again... YES!!!!
