← Sevenoaks 7

I first heard of the Sevenoaks 7 this year, even though I used to grow up in South East London/Kent area. I have been to Knole Park before so knew to expect the course to be off road and hilly in places, as well as the odd sighting of deer. Race HQ is at Sevenoaks Rugby club, where race packs could be collected on the day. There wasn't an official bag drop but there were people from Sevenoaks AC around to keep an eye on things in the club house. They had Up and Running offering an assortment of accessories to buy and they provided teas, coffees and refreshments for after the race. Limited toilet facilities for ladies compared to the men so there was a big as the start time got closer.

The race is completely within Knole Park, which is a 10 min walk away from race HQ. There is a steep decent to negotiate so it is worth making sure you allow plenty of time to get down to the start line. The first section of the course is uphill taking you towards Knole House before you head out into the hillier sections of the park. There is a water station located at approximately 2.5 and 5 miles. There is a steep decent not long after the water stop but leads to one of my favourite stretches on the route. As it was dry underfoot it wasn't too difficult to negotiate but caution would be needed if the weather was inclement. I wore trail shoes but most runners would be ok wearing road shoes. There was great support from the marshals and other runners on the course throughout. The medal is a lovely design too.
