I was delighted to be part of the official Racecheck pace team for my first visit to the Swansea Half marathon. It was a great #visorclub meet up and I really enjoyed the event. Event village is a short walk from the town centre and the waterfront, the start is a little bit of a walk away so give yourself enough time to get there. It is a very well organised race, pre race communications are very good and there were lots of volunteers on display throughout the day. First few miles in Swansea city centre before you follow the coast road out towards the beautiful Mumbles. Good crowds throughout the entire course on what was a lovely sunny day. The course turns for home at about 7/8 miles and then follows the coastal path all the way home. We did experience some strong winds in the last few miles. The route is very well marked out and plenty of aid stations on the course. The finish is by the waterfront and everyone receives a lovely medal and technical t-shirt. Plenty of food and drink and live music in the event village after the race. I paced 2hrs and on a nice flat course we were able to run even splits throughout the race. It is a large half marathon and we had a great group with us from start to finish. I crossed the line in 1.59.45 with plenty of happy runners, PB’s achieved and high fives. Overall I thought this was a really enjoyable event, it is a fast and flat course and I will definitely plan to be back in 2020.

Thank you for your review Darren and thank you for pacing at our race, we really appreciate it. We look forward to seeing you in 2020. - Frontrunner Events
