This is one of my favourite races of the year and 2019 was my fifth time running it out of the six years it has been in existence.

I love the unique race format with timed running sections interspersed by recovery walking sections. It is a great route, predominantly on trails, with supportive marshals and has a friendly fun vibe. Be warned - it is hilly, but the reward for the hills is fantastic views and some great downhill sections.

It also has a fabulous medal which doubles as a bottle opener and the race t-shirt is always good (though this is cotton rather than a tech t-shirt and isn't included in the race entry).

This year wasn't as great as previous years as it has become a bit of a victim of its own success. Race entry was difficult as the website crashed which meant entry had to be delayed and became a ballot. The other area where it failed to deliver were the long queues for "race dibber" and toilets before the race, and for the beer tent and food afterwards. These are minor quibbles and I'll be entering again next year.
