This was the 2nd year of doing this race and it didn’t disappoint. Ok the weather was pretty awful, but that was nothing to do with the race organisers!

The prices are pretty high and then they add quite steep fees on top - as we live fairly close by I refused to pay even more to get the pack sent out to me so I went along to the Expo the day before (& also picked up my t-shirt which is strange but at least guaranteed to get one that fits)!

On the day itself - the bag drop was huge and very well organised. There were the expected queues for the toilets, but there were lots of them and they were ‘proper’ toilets!

The starter pens were pretty chaotic but then there were thousands of starters - I had to wait next to my pen as I couldn’t actually get in through the barriers until everyone started to move once the front of the pack started!

The route was good, running through Mathew St and past the Cavern, through Sefton park and down Penny Lane. There were bands scattered throughout the route and plenty of drink stations and marshalls. The last 4 miles were pretty miserable as that’s when it gets onto the prom at Otterspool and down to the finish at the Echo Arena at the Albert Dock - the wind was very strong and against us pretty much the whole way!

Once finished, we were given an excellent medal and some water, a banana and some crisps! We were then funnelled through to the inside of the Echo arena again where the bag drop is and where people could safely lie down if needed!!

So a great Half marathon route with great support and a fantastic medal - not the cheapest but it has a great atmosphere and I have booked to do this again next year!
