The annual Trout Run is part of the village fete at Wincle. The fete location is rotated between the three local farms each year, with the result that the fell race is different each year. In addition the organiser hinted that this year there would be further tweaks to the route.
The 2019 route was stunning, with a huge array of terrain and scenery. All finished off with a very welcome pint (of water - there was beer at the fete though) and a fresh trout (if you wanted one). That was dinner sorted anyway!
This is a great fell race but whilst there's little issue with navigation (laods of marshals and plenty of flags), the course is tough, with climbs and descents throughout.
There are plenty of easier ways to 'purchase' a trout, but few as rewarding as this.
