· 2019 Half Marathon ·

This was my fourth time running the Rock & Roll Liverpool half marathon. On all previous occasions it had been swelteringly hot, but on Sunday I woke up to rain. I thought this would make it more pleasant, but was to be proved wrong! One effect that the rain had was that there wasn't the same level of spectator support on the route. Having finished the previous three years in 3:34, 3:32 and 3:29:46(it's about finish lines, not finish times!!), my hope was to do it in about 3:15, but I was staggered to finish in 2:58:57(only my third sub-3 hour and first since 2015). This was in spite of the horrendous winds on the 4-mile home stretch down the Mersey. I love everything about this race - the atmosphere among the participants, the finish line festival, the medals and t-shirts, and definitely the after race partying in the city. Roll on 2020.
