I do this race every year; London is my home city and it is a rare treat to run through it traffic free. I like the course but the race has become too big and overcrowded which makes it hard to have a decent run unless you are a very speedy person at the front. There were a few additional problems this year. They seem to have changed the bag drop and though I was okay I spotted quite a few who didn't have their wrist band. The other problem was with the pens at the start. These weren't marshalled and I ended up in a pen with yellow, orange and grey that was held forever. I think the intention was for us to be split but no-one was there to do this. The result was that I spent the first half of the race dodging walkers and going up and down the pavement to try to find a way through the pack. It was great that we had had the choice of a female tee-shirt at the end but the small size seemed to run out pretty quickly and I had to have a medium. This used to be such a lovely race but I'm not sure about signing up again. It would be great if the organisers could review things - has the race got too big or could the start be managed more proactively to prevent the logjams?
