I love this event and take part every year and normally this is blessed with the best weather of the year but sadly not 2019. After running on the brink of heatstroke last year, the rain and wind sadly dampened moral a little.

The course is excellant and takes in the majority of Liverpools best sights and are accompanied by sounds matching the views well.

The issues this year seemed to outnumber all I've ever experienced with this event since it started. I have to believe this was mainly down to the weather though as even some of the staff whilst normally happy and pleasant were very awkward and miserable. The security on the doors were impolite and clearly had power trips as athletes tried to get inside out of the wind and rain. I could see no need for this. Even the staff handing out the free sweets at the expo seemed hostile to the runners.

The 1.30 pacers failed to hit their targets and sadly following them can be heartbreaking when you think you have done better than you really had. It was not helped as the finish line clock was over a minute faster than your actual time so yet again more heartbreak! Ever since Ironman took over this company the events (I complete Liverpool, Madrid & Dublin each year) things have gone downhill but at least the registration problems have now been addressed.

Having detailed some of the negatives I have still signed up straight away for next years event in the hope that this is all just a one off.

The medals are so unique and amazing with a first class quality tshirt to take away from the weekend.
