I won a competition with New Balance and Sportshoes.com so was gifted my place plus a pair a of trainers.
I have only ran a mile once before and was horiffic, hard work and lung busting. I've been injured so planned only to take it easy in a steady 8 or 9 minute mile.
There are 34 waves and it all seemed organised, I managed to get on the front of my wave so had a good start. The course is flat and has just 3 turns which aren't too sharp so a fast time is possible.
You finish and get a text straight away with your time, collect your medal, and goody bag and then onto the Vitality event village where you can spend time in green park
