A few teething problems for this inaugural Newport 10K. Park and Ride issues meant the marathon start had to be delayed which had a knock on effect for the 10K event. There were also large queues for baggage as bag searches were carried out which doesn't normally happen at most events and I don't think most runners accounted for this.
The race itself went without any issues. Starting pens were well organised and maanged to get away quickly with no issues. It isn't the most scenic race with the expection of running over the bridge but makes up for it by being super flat and fast with the only slight incline being over the bridge itself. Although it's not for everyone, I enjoyed the out and back section between 6-7K as a nice distraction to see the faster runners on the other side of the course and then encourage runners behind after the turnaorund.
Goody bag, medal and good quality tech t-shirt for all finishers.
Also enjoyed the race village with plenty of freebies on offer and opportunities to take photo with race clock showing finishing time.
