Extremely well organised from start to finish. I was in zone 7 in the red pens and it was good to see we had decent pacers. Toilet queues were huge at the start as expected but bag drop was seamless and nice to have big screens to watch before we all lined up.
Great crowd support and plenty of drinks and treats on offer as you go around. Tower Bridge just hits you, it’s absolutely beautiful. So much in fact that when I got to the other side I just had to turn around for one last glimpse.
So nice to see our lovely Racecheckers cheering us on, high fives, hugs and snacks x
The only downside for me was runner etiquette, when people wanted to walk they just stopped dead in front and stayed there. In Manchester people would move to the edge of the road but not in London. Most people in the latter stages were all walking and it was very hard to make any progression especially on some of the uphill sections. I added a mile and a half because I had to keep weaving so I could continue running.
As I finished the race it was nice to have the medal placed around my neck, then lots of photos were taken. My goody bag was a bit random and there was no banana 🍌😔 But I am a fussy eater at the best of times 😊
The T-shirt’s available when I finished were either XL or extra small, ideally I wanted small but the extra small will suffice so long as I keep running🤣
i was directed to a changing area which was a communal tent in the basement of a car park. Not ideal but good enough if you’re a long way from home
If you want to do this iconic race then go for it! You won’t regret it and the medal is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a bit of a pain having to trudge to London for your race number but you’ll be glad you did when you get to experience an incredible day with some beautiful people raising money for matters close to their heart 💓
