← Whistle Stop Tour of Wirral

Enjoyable but tough day out this one. This is my local half and I was really looking forward to running it. Sign up was easy and you can register for an extra medal with the organisers which you gain if you beat your half PB. Numbers and info posted out before the race. There is information on parking but I did think the area could have been signed a little better in general. The race itself starts at New Brighton, heads down the prom before turning and coming back along the seawall down to Leasowe and returning. Injury ruined my race at 4 miles, I kept plodding but it was tough. There are a couple of tricky sections to negotiate, one being a rocky path and another tight muddy lane later on but generally this would be a fast route depending entirely on the wind, which was not kind on this day! This is a bit of a marmite race, some will love it, some not so much. The long straight stretches I struggled with but some will like that. Its a PB course when the wind is kind.
