This really was a fabulous event from start to finish. So many positives, but very few negatives. I suppose the only down was the 40 minute wait for the loo in the start area, but that didn't detract too much and is probably to be expected given the quantity of people in the area. Pre-race information was regular and detailed, so it was easy to know where you were supposed to be. fantastic crowds for pretty much the whole race, with lots of locals dishing out sweets and I lost count of the number of kids I high-fived! For the most part, this is a really enjoyable route, flat and tarmac, I can see why people say it's a PB course. There is a bit of a drag out in the country around mile 20, but that's soon over and you're back into the suburbs and the great support again. A long run to the finish line through the crowds either side makes for a good finish, although after 26 miles you can see the finish in the distance and it seems to take ages to get there. A cracking medal and T-shirt awaited finishers, along with a few other goodies such as malt loaf and water, All in all a fantastic event and, with next years new route incorporating the city-centre, it seems destined to become even bigger.
