This was the first year I have done the 63 mile shorter course having previously completed the 97 miles and 75 mile + distances. As with the prior events the short sharp hills in the Lincolnshire wolds provide the best views and the most challenging part of the ride, only trumped by the special finish up the cobbled climb of michaelgate into the beautiful/castle square. This really is a highlight with loads of spectator support behind the barriers set up for the pro's race the next day. The Lincoln GP is a well organised and subscribed to event. The feed stations are good and generally well placed, T-shirt and food at the end are worthwhile and the general atmosphere around and during the ride is mostly good natured. It is my 'home' city and despite having ridden a fair few times now I shall never tire of it, especially the end up michaelgate. For those interested or new to cycling there's a great series of events and I'd recommend a weekend visit, including the sportive!
