A great race around the streets of London, taking in some of the marathon route. The support was bigger than I was expecting, and passing runners coming the other direction led to some good shout outs across the course. Negatives: - No entry points or checks into your wave. Had people from the back waves near the front as it seemed like it was first come first served. Led to a very stuttering first half a mile to get some space, with many faster runners caught at the back of the field. - Crossing points not always great. Two spectators walked into my path. Took the first one clean out, and nearly the second one too. - Entry to the bag drop was only open one side, so to get to the start you had a crowded walk which had the toilet queues in the middle so was a bit of a faff. - More toilets needed Positives: - Route looks mad on the overview, but once you're going it actually works really well, and you get to see some amazing parts of London - Support was great around the course, plenty of bands too which gave it a great atmosphere - Bag drop area looks like absolute chaos but worked well and bag collected in under a minute when I got there - Collecting a medal from a Chelsea Pensioner Overrall, a busy but good race and one I'd do again next year. Still only in it's second year so if it keeps on improving it will become a regular event. Just need to iron out the pre-race logistics really.
