The area around the bag drop was very crowed as everyone was hanging onto their warm clothes as long as possible due to the poor weather before handing over the bag. The bag drop closes long before the race starts so a minimum of 40 minutes in the elements to try to keep warm. Toilets in the start pens is great but soon becomes difficult to move with people queuing in all directions. One the race started we were quickly moving but annoyingly having to overtaking people who were walking three abreast in the middle of the course after a few hundred meters. Well supported along the majority of the course and excellently marshalled. The highlight was running over Tower Bridge, this would have been better is the head wind was not so strong. It was a shame that the event village was closed to due to the high wind, many people headed straight for the DLR after collecting bags which was very crowded. I enjoyed the event as a whole despite the terrible conditions but it wouldn’t be high on my list of events to do again.
