The first part of the half marathon that had an impact for me, was the parking. There isn't much, it's mostly street parking. As someone who isn't local to Wilmslow, this added a bit of stress to my day, as I pretty much had to leave my car on the side of a road that was full of other cars, and walk down. Regardless, the parking situation was not bad to the point where it would put me off doing this event again, or recommending others to do it. Once I was near the start line, there was an air of excitement. Thousands of people lined the street, surrounded by their friends, family and locals out to support the run. There were children of all ages stood around wearing numbers for the fun run, and a mixture of all ages stood for the 10k and half marathon. Initially I thought this would be an issue, as the 10k and half were starting at the same time, which I thought would be a pain and confusing. It wasn't, thanks to the brilliant marshals, and very clear signs that were in place. The run started on-time, which I find is quite unusual, but very welcome! Once we began running, everything was easy and straight forward. The route was extremely obvious, the other participants were friendly, and for the first few miles it was a pleasant, flat, quick run. However, don't let that fool you! This course does have it's fair share of hills, some of which are quite sneaky and waiting around a corner for you! It's a fast run, it is most certainly possibly to hit a PB, and most importantly, it's enjoyable and filled with happy, enthusiastic staff and supporters who were more than happy to cheer you on as you passed. And the medal is great, too!
