← London Lightning 5k & 10k

I was drawn to this race for two reasons, a totally non-profit-making and event with all the proceeds going to haven house children’s Hospice. The start was it the timber lodge cafe which also houses the toilets. Lots of room for people to sit and have a cuppa before the race. Collecting numbered bibs and bag drop was quick and easy as they were situated directly next to each other . It was also inside in an area directly adjacent to the Cafe . It was staffed by lovely smiley faced people. The marshals were on the ball at the start ushering runners to the start line. There was a brief race checked and all started smoothly. I really liked this course, It was quiet , Green open spaces and along the river. The course was two laps with the water station at each lap. The course was very well marked as well . I was really pleased to see that no plastic water bottles were used and that the water on offer was dispensed in cups. The marshals on the course were both friendly and encouraging and there was plenty of them. They looked happy to be there. There were no photographers on the course but I did see a lady with a camera at the finish that I was told you could have a photograph done by. There was a small goodie bag with a pen and a chocolate bar and a banana. The fact that no profits were made I thought it was a lovely gesture. I would do this run again and I would recommend it as well.
