I’ve been intending to run this race for a couple years, but its clashed with other events. Fortunately 2019 was to be the year. I’ve heard great things about this event and I LOVE Anglesey, so was very excited..........And im pleased to say; it didn’t disappoint! Registration and communication was easy and slick. Plenty of emails in the build up to the event with plenty of relevant info. On race day, i had an early start with a 75 min drive for a 9am race start. I arrived at 7:30 and parked up without fuss and just a short walk to the start line on the stunning Menai Bridge. There was a good buzz at the start, as the 10k runners were also gathering. Always pleased to see Plenty of loo’s for the last minute baldder release. Result! I met Simeon on the start line, exchanged a few words and before we knew it, we started at 9 on the dot. The route is stunning! Taking you over tye bridge and along the cost road towards Beaumaris. Around some country roads and back to the finish in Menai. Its largely closed roads al the way except for a small section. The route is undulating and more hills than i expected, but still a fast course. The views over the Water to Snowdonia are epic, when its clear! There are plenty of aid stations, cant comment any further as i didnt use any. With 3 miles to go, the 10k runners join us, this made for a nice finish. At the end there was lots of local support, a fantastic medal and technical T. Lots of water, fruit and cake and a huge bag of crisps by event sponsors, Jones. I was really pleased with my race; finishing 58th in 01:26:40 A really well organised event on a stunning course; this was everything i hoped for and more! I’ll without doubt be back next year! This will become a staple in my diary!
