← Race to the Stones

This was my 3rd ultra of 2017 and by far the longest race ive ever done. So i went into this race quite nervous about running 100 kilometres non stop. The checkpoints were evenly spaced out averaging evrey 10 k or so and they were all fab all the drink and food you need to carry on running. The route was very well marked and the views were stunning aling britains oldest path the ridgeway. The elevatiin gain was 4000feet in gain so not too hilly for the distance. The ridgeway is 5000years old there is a number if landmarks along the way to look out for Waylands Smithy is a neolithic long barrow and chamber tomb. White Horse of Uffington might not be so obvious as its just off the route. Iron age fort of Barbary Castle will be a welcome sight as it means you are nearing the end its all downhill from here. Finally the finish at Avebury Stone circle a 5000 year old stone circle. The sense of achievement was incredible i couldnt believe i’d just ran 62 miles along the North Wessex Downs. I am doing it again this year with a friend it will be her first ultra i cant wait.
