I took advantage of the Manchester Marathon participant's rate of £20 for a session of up to 3.5 hours, which represented cracking value. Everything was very well organised, with energy gels available at registration and a nice medal, T-shirt and protein bar afterwards. The weather wasn't great to start with as the circuit was shrouded in fog, but nothing the organisers could do about that. Oulton Park is deceptively hilly, with 3 short but fairly steep climbs on each lap. A 10k, and a half-marathon were also being run at the same time, but the wide circuit meant plenty of space for everyone. There was one checkpoint, serving water, which seemed in plentiful supply. There was a smattering of supporters, most of them there with people who were running, but no crowds to speak of. That's not unsurprising given the fact the circuit is out in the country. Live tracking of results/laps was available both at the circuit and on the website. Al in all a lovely event and thoroughly recommended, certainly at £20.
