← Clock Change Challenge - October

I have done this event a few times back when it was organised by LPS Events and thought it was a good quality event. I think this is the first time I've done it since Calne Leisure Centre have taken over and unfortunately, I felt it lacked something this time. LPS still provided the timing and music which I enjoyed, however it wasn't clear where to look for your number at registration (I saw the sign but the list is usually right by it, but it was stuck to the wall nowhere near the queue as it turbos out) so I joined the queue and was rudely turned away because I didn't know it but I didn't fancy joining the long queue again. There was also no space on the back of the race numbers to write your information on. Speaking to others, the 5k start was fumbled and the briefing for the 10k couldn't be heard. I think there may have been a problem with the PA system, but the replacement megaphone wasn't great and silence wasn't insisted upon and runners talked all the way through it. The course was well marked but I felt that there was a lack of marshals; when coming out of the housing estate there was no one to assist with crossing the road and there was a queue of angry drivers waiting. However, there were plenty of medical professionals out on the course in an ambulance if they were ever needed. The water station only had water and at the finish line you had to help yourself to refreshments and there was no food, such as bananas or sweets available either. I really like the medal this time as it's a huge improvement over the other ones I have for this event and the trophies at the presentations were wooden and looked very smart. All in all, the event felt a bit flat but I got a good time so I left fairly happy.
