← Spartan Race UK - Windsor Trifecta Weekend

I was keen to return to Windsor for Spartan Beast after completing it in 2017. I love obstacle course events and Spartan Beast is one of the longer distance events. This years course measured just over 14 miles with an estimated good finishing time of 3hrs. The Beast is one event held over a weekend with various distances all available. As with most OCR events the entry fee is expensive but I would definitely recommend the Spartan series. Parking is an additional charge, cash on arrival which I think really should be covered in the entry fee. The registration process is quite slow so give yourself plenty of time before your allocated start. The event village is lively, food and drink options with a large bag drop (extra charge) and changing area. I loved the fact the course was completely different this year, some absolutely brilliant obstacles made even tougher with the constant rain. There are good aid stations throughout the course, superb marshals all throughout and you always feel safe completing the obstacles. After the Elite athletes and the Good for Age athletes we were in the open wave so the course can be fairly busy. The second sand bag carry of just over a mile was a particularly tough obstacle this year. I was very happy with my performance, just over 3hrs for the 14 mile course, 32nd in the open category from 2577 finishers and 3rd in age group. The medal, finisher t-shirt and beer at the end were all high quality and definitely earned. I will recommend Spartan events and look forward to returning in 2019.
