Another member of the running community suggested the race to me so I booked myself a place. Considering I prefer road races, an evening trail race actually piqued my interest. The weather was awful but it surprisingly didn't diminish my enjoyment of the course. It's a hilly course so you certainly have to have your wits about you, especially when it got dark. You had to have a headtorch or you would not be allowed to race. The organisers gave a thorough race briefing at the start. There were marshals mainly at the earlier stages but when there weren't marshals later on there were markers to follow. Ideally you would want to run with others as it can be disorientating in the dark being on your own if you're not used to it, which happened to me around mile 7-8. But I was soon caught up by another runner so we finished the course together. I'd certainly want to try the day time version of the race so I could appreciate more of the surroundings I didn't get to see on this occasion.
