Friends have done this race in the past, I’ve always wanted to give it a go as it’s reputation of being flat but always had other races/challenges until this year. I really enjoyed the experience, it poured down throughout the pre race and for some time after. There were still little pockets of support over the course and well wishers. The course itself is as billed flat and fast, there are a few sharper turns in the residential areas but plenty of long stretches where you can build your speed. As for value for money was about £35 but you got a fantastic race, bottled water, the goody bag was a decent backpack, tech shirt, medal and some food and drink that you will use. Only negatives I can think of is a) although I prefer bottled water, maybe a mix of bottled and cups will help reduce waste? B) no energy gels (not major but could be improved) and c) they use active (issues with card fraud) for the booking and marathon photos (expensive)
