This is another event organised by UK RunChat so I knew it would be well organised like their sister event Shrewsbury Half. It was my first race on an actual race circuit (previously been a spectator at the Chilly 10K in Chippenham) but not my first experience of a lapped race. The half started at 12pm but I decided to go up early to support the 10K racers. I met up with loads of other runners from UK Runchat, Visor Club and Run Mummy Run online communities. Storm Callum made race conditions very tricky. The 10K runners were unfortunately hit by wind, rain and hail on their 2.5 laps. The half runners didn't have the rain (a positive of starting at midday) but the wind was certainly testing in the far corner of the track, especially as you knew you had to run through it 5 times. With the right conditions it's certainly a PB course for most if not all runners so I would like to return and try again having been so close on this occasion. Kudos to the pacers, marshals and supporters who were there. Loved the medal, tshirt and goodie bag. A few points to consider for next year: (1) better sign posting for parking, as nearly everyone went straight towards Goodwood itself using the postcode provided and then had to turn around to park in the field opposite, (2) more healthier pre and post race food trucks, (3) a few more stall holders (it was good to see Runr there).
