I'd heard of Shrewsbury Half from others in the UK RunChat community who had run it in 2017. I ended up driving up from London the same morning, as I had to work the previous day, so it was a very early start for me. If I was to run it again I would definitely look into staying over night somewhere part way or nearby to break the journey up. The drive up itself was pretty smooth going until I got nearer to the showground and so it took a while for me to get inside to park meaning I missed the meet up with others. But that aside it was a well organised event. Pacers available to help people out plus the lovely Ash Wilks was the Tailwalker for the event. Everyone was encouraging. Good support within the built up areas. The course is extremely challenging with a lot of hills thrown in for good measure. There were points I had to walk, bearing in mind that I added hills into my training schedule beforehand. Good mix of urban and country scenery. Bonus of free photos of the event, which are automatically uploaded onto Facebook. Loved the medal and tshirt, which I wear a lot during racing.
