This was the first race back after running London Marathon so I was still finding my running legs. But it was a well attended inaugural event, especially with other Visor Club and UK Runchat members there. The race village was easily reached from the shopping centre car park about 10 mins away (if in doubt follow the other racers and ask the marshals you can't go wrong). The race village itself was quite busy with various stalls and British Airways, as the headline sponsors, were running various competitions throughout the event. Special guest appearances from Sally Gunnell, Iwan Thomas and Collin Jackson and also Susie Chan MCing the event. The only issues I had were the bag drop queues and also the organisation of the start pens before making our way to the start line. The course itself takes you through a mix of built up and country roads. Bar the hill between mile 8 and 9 it was relatively flat. A few narrow sections so you couldn't over take people but otherwise enough space on the closed roads. You know you're near Gatwick when the planes are flying over the course. Most of the support was in the built up areas, which is pretty usual. The medal is one of my favourites as it resembles a ticket/luggage tag. The tshirt and buff were also a welcome addition to my goodie bag collection.
