The race route was easy to understand, Marshalls on the course were encouraging and the number of supporters that turned out in the pouring rain was great. However ... the organisation of the event village was honestly embarrassing. It would have been useful to have volunteers/staff who actually knew where the start line was, signs that were a lot bigger and clearer, a greater number of toilets (I waited 35 minutes and decided to leave the queue as it was only 20 minutes until the race started). The spectator buses were also poor. When dropping people off at locations it might be useful to have someone (not from York) to guide them where they need to go to see the race, try to avoid roadworks being on route when one of the cities biggest events is taking place! My friends missed getting the the finish line due to this! 1 hour sat on a bus is not good enough when they have paid a fair amount for their ticket! All in all, sort out your event organisation. Would not be recommending the event due to the pre race experience and poor transport.
