By far the biggest event I've ever done at over 40k people - and it didn't disappoint! Before I get onto the good stuff though, a few gripes. Bathrooms: not nearly enough at the start, queues were well over an hour. Water stations: the water stations used plastic cups, this meant that around them there was lots of water spilled on the road and a lot of dropped cups. This could have been easily mitigated or improved simply by some large bins. Finish area: the finish area was confusingly laid out, you weren't immediately passed your medal, and refreshments, goodie bags and free beer were all quite a distance away and not in an obvious layout. While I understand the need to keep such a large number of people moving over the line, surely it could at least be done in a linear format. Despite these gripes it was a fantastic day. The crowds were amazing and very supportive, the whole way - no quiet spots. It's also amazing running through the centre of Berlin and past so many well known landmarks. In particular finishing by running through the Brandenburg Gate has to be one of the classic race finishes of all time. The marshalls were fantastic on such a long route and did their best to keep us and the city moving. Overall an excellent race for such a big event, definitely do it if you ever get the chance.
