A massive race with 44000 participants! I went to the expo on the Friday and it was pretty busy. Getting your bib was straight forward, but the queue for the pre-ordered race kit was horrendous. I agree with others in that the finishers t-shirts should have been included in the entry fee - just like the other Majors. Getting to the start area was painless via the u-bahn, but the actual area was not so great. As usual, not enough loos and the baggage tents for your number were hard to locate. Getting to the start pens was a joke. I ended up climbing over the fence to get in and we were like sardines. Once underway, the course was flat all the way and was well supported. The water stations were not frequent enough and were therefore very crowded and the plastic cups were a real pain. The sports drink was dire and I didn’t try the tea! The finish is spectacular, running towards and through the Brandenburg Gate was very special. Nice medal and the volunteers were fab. Overall a great experience, but I’m not sure I’d choose to run it again.
