I enjoyed my first time taking part in the Donegal Half Marathon. It started and finished at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenney. The first 5k took us around the town before heading out on the main road towards Glenties. We then took a turn off of the main road and on to country lanes as we made our way back towards the finish. The second half of the course is fairly undulating and you get to experience some of the "hills of Donegal" but with that comes some great views. The finish was on the running track at the Aura Leisure Centre.

Whilst it was not a closed road route, the traffic was stopped for the start and controlled at junctions so it felt safe throughout.

There were plenty of marshals offerring support and encouragement. Lots of water stations as well with bottled water. Local support was limited, although the people who did come out to support the runners were enthusiastic.

Everyone who took part receive d a goody bag and tech t shirt and there was a nicely designed medal for finishing the half marathon.

One area I think could have been improved is the event website and communication between registration and race day. I received no emails but was able to gain information by visiting the facebook page.

So overall an enjoyable, well organised event on a course with some great scenery. I'll certainly consider taking part again.

But don't just take my word for it, have a look at my video and see for yourself: https://youtu.be/OvBxA7NXHeA
