Chip timed multi lap race with plenty of opportunity to smash a fast time. Held over 2 days, I took part on day #2. Option was there to run on either or both days.
The race was entirely on excellent quality closed roads. It was laps of a cycle track at UCLan Sports Village in Preston, each of which was approximately 1 mile long. It was 13 & a half laps for the half marathon & 27 for the full marathon.
Changing, toilet & shower facilities was a nice bonus.
Feed stations at start of each lap were well stocked with various sweet treats, water, cola & electolite. A big screen & man on public address kept runners informed of how many laps they’d done.
The very nature of the course means there’s not much in the way of public support but the marshals & PA man was great. The atmosphere amongst the runners was very good too.
There was a decent finisher’s bag for all who completed their respective distances & a basic medal.
A good event, I’d consider doing this again.
In summary...
Highs: Fast course with potential for a PB.
Lows: 1 Mile lap format doesn’t suit everybody.
Bottom Line: Friendly, well organised race.
