First time I have done this race despite it being so local. Will definitely do it again, great, friendly local 10k. Very flat route so great PB potential.

The race starts and finishes at the Loretto playing fields in Musselburgh. Changing and bag drop facilities are on site. Registration really easy and friendly as you would expect from a local race. 

The route is essentially a figure of 8, initially heading out west to Musselburgh promenade before looping back, then heading out east along the coast before looping back to the playing fields via the racecourse. Route is dead flat, with a mixture of grass, track and road. Due to this flat route there is fantastic PB potential.

With quite a bit of the route being on quiet local paths local support is fairly limited, although on the more populated bits people did come out to support. The route was well sign posted and marshall support was very good and friendly. The race is fully chip timed.

There was no medal, but there is a t-shirt and best of all an ice cream at the end.

With its friendliness and great PB potential definitely one to recommend if you're in the area.
