This was the 30th Annual Worstead 5 Mile race prior to the Worstead Festival and my first time running it. It was nominated as a “club run” by my running club otherwise I’d probably never have looked at it. I’m glad I did however! It’s a Friday evening race starting at 7pm. The heat this year was unprecedented... it was still 30 degrees at the start and soo humid. PB’s totally out the window. But all credit to the organisers who put out an extra water stop and the Marshalls many of whom had spare bottles with them just in case. The local people came out of their houses to cheer the runners, some evening sitting at tables in their front gardens drinking prosecco and eating their tea! Lovely atmosphere all round, plenty of parking and toilets and the course was excellent with the most rewardingly beautiful view of the church after the Hill climb towards the end. Only complaint would be the very tight and crowded start which can’t really be helped due to the size of the village. It did clear quickly but was somewhat uncomfortable for a while. I’ll certainly return next year.
