‘Rocky Horror Tribute race’ is a multi-lap event with a choice of distances: Marathon ,Half Mararthon &10k. I took on the full marathon.
Race numbers were collection on the day only from a sports centre next to the start/finish area. There was a cafe & also shower facilities which was a nice bonus.
Laps were approximately 1k each. The idea of running 44 laps (for a full marathon) of a cycle track might be some people’s idea of a nightmare however it was a really enjoyable day.
Yes the course lacks variety but on the plus side it’s very flat & the tarmac is smooth. Perfect surface for running. A definite PB opportunity.
Laps were counted manually with runners having a card that was hole punched every lap. I was concerned beforehand but this system actually worked quite well with plenty of volunteers ensuring runners weren’t having to pause much between laps.
Finishers received an awesome ‘Rocky Horror’ themed medal.
One thing that strikes me about ‘How Hard Can It Be’ events is the friendliness & great atmosphere. Big thanks to the organisers for putting on a great race. Special mention to the volunteers/marshals for their professionalism.
In summary...
HIGHS: Fast, flat race with PB potential.
LOWS: Muli lap doesn’t suit everybody.
BOTTOM LINE: Good, fun race with beautiful bling. I’m definitely looking to do this again.
