I usually really enjoy the city runs. Getting to run through a variety of city centres on roads closed to traffic is realy enjoyable. Unfortunately the Nottingham 10K goes nowhere near the centre of Nottingham. From the Nottingham Rugby club, adjacent to the City Ground, the route goes through residential roads for a couple of KM before a complete circuit of the water at Holme Pierrepoint and back again. Great course for a PB, but pretty dull and uninspiring.
Despite the route, the event was organised in the usual efficient way the Run for All events usually are. Registration was easy and information plentiful. The start was also well-organised and there were marshalls aplenty throughout the course. The race 'village' itself was a little sparse and the toilet queues were pretty long before the event.
Now, the main gripe. £25.80 to enter this event, £3 to park and photo packages available to purchase for £19.95 or £24.95 - single photos available for £9 each - makes it a very expensive 10k. Maybe Run for All have decided to target those runners doing a couple of races a year who are happy to pay these prices, but there are so many better value events out there and I will not be returning next year.
