← RunThrough Aintree 5k, 10k & Half Marathon - July

You dont get many chance's to run at such an iconic sporting venue such as Aintree Racecourse, so I booked onto the race as soon as I saw it advertised. Registration process was straight forward. Information sent out could've been better, as mentioned with the change of time for the 10k start. Information on parking wasnt the clearest either. Limited parking at the venue but then advised plenty of parking near by, without giving alternatives.

On the day, collecting the race number was nice and easy, along with the bag drop off area. The course was flat in the majority of areas, apart from just after the start but that was only a short hill. One downside was the amount of toilets, just 15 portaloo's between 2000 runners & spectators wasnt enough, leading to very long queues. Maybe next year could the actual venue toilets be opened up?

During the race, support from the marshalls was brilliant. They did brilliant to keep their own spirits up despite the awful weather. The course was mainly tarmac path & road. Only other slight issue was the distance signage. There had been no mention to which signs were for which race, which lead to confusion during the first lap of the 10k as to how far we'd completed. Maybe a different colour sign for each distance?

Each problem wasnt a big negative factor. An enjoyable day was had & I'll be looking to do the race again next year and would recommend to others.
