Not a faint of heart person, but genuinely the hardest race I have ever completed.
Reputation as one of the toughest trail marathons going, it earns this title well. 27.1miles long, 5256ft ascent.
Dont be fooled that this is an ordinary trail marathon. In many parts it’s safer to not run due to the uneven ground and it can be difficult underfoot.
Whether you’re into them or not, I’d recommend walking sticks as you’ll be grateful for them, especially near snowdon summit.
The marshalls were superb, it could get lonely at times and you have to be mentally strong to get past those difficult points.
Along the route many walkers/hikers were supportive and gave comments of support even nearing the top of the mountain!
Hardest point: climbing up from the valley just before pen y pass. I did not know if one person who was ok with this. This was not ok XD this was tougher than climbing the damned mountain. Breathing was also a bit tough near the summit.
Best bits: the VIEWS. Amazing. Beautiful. Breathtaking. Just EPIC.
Worst bits: bit miffed that the 10k/half/Mara medals were all the same... with the feeling that you’ve been to hell and back several times over it was a mild annoyance.
Notable info: parking was ample and accommodating. Approx 4-7 quid for the day, tiny walk to the start. Arrived an hour before due to run, absolutely ok. Definitely make sure you have all your mandatory kit, they’re very strict about this.
At the end of the day, enjoy - and bask in the awesomeness of finishing something superhuman. It’ll be one of the hardest challenges you’ll do.
