This was my 3rd year of running this event on the trot having previously done the 50k Option. It was a last minute decision to run (to punish myself for a bad race last weekend) and opted for the marathon distance.
A choice of 13 miles, 18 miles, marathon or 50k theres plenty to choose from. The challenge it's self navigation round local villages off road with a set of short hand instructions and or GPX files (1st year they tried this). i have trained on the course previously, so know the routes.
The emphasis is to get round, join up with fellow runners and have some fun, well stocked but basic (water, squash, cakes, sweets, crisps and crackers) checkpoints every 3-6 miles.
Great scenery and the weather was glorious again today. The cater well at the end with massage, burger van, coffee van and an alcohol bar and can get a quick massage as well (bring your own cash) but loads of snacks, water and free smiles and congrats when you go over the line!
Would I recommend it? yes 100% whether you learn the route or self nav it, you'll have a great time. Also just £20 a pop any distance (unaffliated)
Would I do it again? done it three times now, I'm sure I'll be back again.
