← Frampton 10k

Having reviewed this race in 2017 when I ran it for the first time, I’m going to keep this very brief.

Basically, this is still, in my opinion, the best 10K on the race circuit. This years event completely mirrored 2017 in terms of the organisation, support and participation from a great numbers of club runners in the region, the location and route – stunning from start to finish, the marshals and the bottle of cider at the finish; instead than a medal, which was most welcome given that the temperate was around 27 degrees at 7.30pm on the start line.

Not only is this one of the best races around, but also one of the most popular. I believe around 450 runners lined up on the start line this year, and my understanding is that the race sold out in a matter of hours after entries opened on-line, so you need to be quick off the mark to avoid disappointment.

For me, this race also gives me the opportunity to catch up with many familiar and friendly running faces that I often bump into throughout the year, so coupled with the fantastic weather and atmosphere on the night, it seemed rude not to grab a very cold pint of cider in the pub afterwards!

On a person level, and despite the hot conditions, I ran well and was only 30 seconds off my 10K PB, which I was really chuffed about!

I can’t say anything other than great things about this race and needless to say, I’m definitely coming back next year! Huge credit must go to the organisers – Stroud Athletic Club, who also arranges the Stroud Half; another fantastic event in the area (which I reviewed back in October 2017). They continue to do the West Country proud!

Next race on the calendar is the Gloucester 10K this coming Sunday, which is also threatening to serve up very warm and humid conditions!
