← Wilmslow Running Festival

The original event should have taken place in March 18 but was rearranged due to the bad weather. I  purchased my entry from a runner who could no longer attend the new date.

The race number transfer took a couple of emails to sort but no real problem.

I got the train to the nearby station and it was about 15 minutes walk to the event.

The bag drop was really smooth and it was great to meet fellow race check friends for a photo.

The race started at 10:30am sharp and was very well marshalled.

The pacers held cards up with the time on and these were disguarded at around 3/4KM so it made it difficult to see where they were.

The race was along country roads, there was enough room for everyone, so no pushing or shoving.

The first water stop had bottles of water and we were advised to take 2, it was appreciated. There were a couple more water stops using plastic cups.

The enroute support was amazing, people had music blasting from their gardens, cups of water, sweets but the best bit was the hosepipes people were using to create a shower for us to run through - fantastic.

A few people required medical attention and this was provided very swiftly.

The course was not flat but for every up hill there is a down - although by the last 2/3 KM my legs were feeling it.

At the finish a goody bag was given with a t-shirt, medal and some snacks but at that point I just needed water.

Once you got through the finish with your goody bag bottled water and juice was provided.

The event was fantastic and I will be back next year when, hopefully, it will be cooler.

Best bit of the run was definitely the support from every single person that took time out of their day to make our day special.
