After enjoying this event in 2017 which was my first ultra I decided to return in 2018.
It is a small event based in East Sussex and would recommend to anyone looking at taking on their first ultra.
Registration, refreshments, bag drop and toilets all available at the start finish area with a good race briefing before the start at 8am.
As well as the 50km trail ultra a half marathon option is available.
The route is some part road but mainly off road though farmers fields (with cows) woodland trail, pathways and across the lovely Ashdown Forest. The terrain was quite technical and some of the greenery on the paths was pretty overgrown. There are a few hills on the ultra course, there are also lots of styles and gates to navigate, the course is superbly marked out so you would really struggle to get lost.
There are numerous aid stations every 5/6 miles which are brilliantly stocked with a wide range of food and drink.
The finishers medal is nice and we all received a lovely handmade mug which is now in use at work alongside last years.
It was a warm day this year, I was slightly slower than last year but still worked hard and finished in just over 5.45hrs.
Overall I think this is a good value event, superbly organised and I would definitely return again. I would recommend highly to otherwise but don’t expect to see many crowds out supporting on the route.
