Overall the 1st ever ‘Run For All’ HULL HALF MARATHON was a definite success.
There was 10k & Half Marathon options, I chose the Half. The pre race atmosphere was very good in & around the charity village & in the starting pens.
Weather conditions were near perfect & the course is fast & flat so it was a day with plenty of PB opportunities. Whilst being flat, there are a hell of a lot of twists & turns to slow runners down. Also some of the cobbled paths & roads aren’t ideal to run on but it’s generally a good course.
One slight criticism. The merging of the 10k & Half Marathon runner’s in the final mile or so didn’t quite work in my opinion. It became quite congested at that point with Half Marathon guys being held up behind 10k runners some of which were walking.
Marshalls were excellent, public support was very good. The water stations were regular (every 3 miles).
Finishers were giver a nice medal quality tech shirt. The only problem is these medals & shirts are very similar to those given out at Leeds Half & Derby Half so it does feel as though I have 3 of the same rewards. A bit of variety would be much appreciated.
Totally FREE post race massage & medal engraving is a nice bonus. Get early to avoid the queues though.
Highs: Another great addition to the ‘RunFor All’ calendar.
Lows: Almost identical medals & shirts to other ‘Run For All’ events.
Bottom Line: Great event that is well organised. Good course, definite PB potential.
