← Ramathon

I ran this race last year, under it's previous 'Ramathon' name, so had no hesitation in entering again.

Run For All then overtook the organisation of this event and renamed it the Derby Half Marathon.

I have done many RFA events so knew they would do an excellent job.

Registration was perfect as was pre-race information.

Baggage deposit/ recovery sythem was fast and effective.

Marshals were fantastic.

Race started and finished at Derby County football stadium.

Course had a couple of small hills but overall, was fast and flat-ish.

Roads were genrally good but there were a couple of trip hazzards to tackle such as speed bumps.

Route took runners through city centre, then heading off into the countryside, before finishing outside the football stadium.

Water stations were regular and contained bottled water and gels.

Finishers were rewarded with a nice medal, shirt and goodie bag.

There was also free medal engraving and massage option- always a nice bonus.

Crowd support was excellent in places but parts of the course lacked spectators.

The finishers shirt & medal were really nice, but was almost identical to the Leeds Half efforts. A different colour shirt between the half marathons in the RFA series is a must.

In summary -

Run For All are my favorite race organisers.

They always do a brilliant job and product a special race day.

As mentioned, a change in medal/shirt design between the half marathon races is important.

Relocating finish line to INSIDE the foodball ground would make this race even more special but I don't know if this is possible.

Thanks for a really good day.
